More Contest Winners: DC Meets Oz

Is this what happened to HOPE?

Exploring the winning photos from the White House News Photographers Association “Eyes of History” contest, Getty’s Alex Wong captured this Halloween scene at the White House last year. The picture does a wonderful job binding to the theatrics, the darkness, the fantasy and intimidation, and the quest for identity that is Washington.

If only we (knew we) had the power. Or short of that, if we could only go to sleep and trust that everything would ultimately make sense.
