The Skies These Days are a Fiery Hail

What with all the jetliners and missiles falling out if the sky, what’s truly stunning about this photo Lightbox offered last Friday in its “Pictures of the Week” gallery is that all those projectiles are simply weather. (The Gazans and the Dutch should be so fortunate.)

Sign of the times, perhaps, the scene feels almost biblical, doesn’t it– like one of the plagues? (Unnerving, too, that sky — also conjures: “out of the blue.”)  And then there’s the fact it’s in Russia, land of the mysterious moving missile batteries.
