The Day’s Best Spanish Holy Week Penitent Photo With KKK Chase(r)

It’s been too many years of griping about these photos, images of otherwise indigenous Easter rituals in Spain suddenly proliferating (like rabbits? pointy-headed rabbits? 2013 Django riff?) on US news photo galleries. So no more griping, just appreciating.

At least this one — thinking of the insta-narrative of the domestic audience again — looks like he’s being followed. Maybe even by someone in a white hijab!

Might not be an appropriate response but I laughed out loud when this image popped up. Not humor but WTF ??!1!!? Are they gonna start the cross-burning without him?? Hurry little klan guy!!

After the caption and a second (or good first) look this is a very nice image, damn near monochrome, certainly stark in color, tone, and season. I don’t know anything of this no doubt Catholic ritual but it’s obvious we’re getting a sculpted look into a culture different from mine, a snapshot travelogue. Nice.
