Fashion of the Times

I saw this yesterday in Yahoo’s “pics of the day” thread and thought it was wonderful.  It’s part of a show of men’s collections leading up to Fashion Week in London. Given the texture and color of the wood, it has a distinct post-Sandy feel to me.  But then, with the “terror decade” morphing into a period of climate and infrastructure crisis, perhaps, when isn’t splintering and destruction and facelessness in fashion?  I was also wondering what you made of the garments themselves. Is there something a little Asia peaking meets fire retardant meets endless secret rendition going on?

London loves theatrics! I’d like to hear the soundtrack, assuming there was one. Visually, the contrast of black and white is obvious, but simple and classic.

Strange layering — reminiscent of some forms of dress in the middle east. Also, something about the blocks of pale stripes is tweaking an Auchwitz photo from somewhere in my brain — something like this. Hard to think that’s what they have in mind, but with the connotations of the plywood wall, anything is possible. (This??)
