White House Chef Does Subway!

Why do I love this shot from the latest batch uploaded to White House Flickr? I love the angle of Obama’s, then Kennedy’s head combined with the angle at which Obama in the photo holds his daughter. I also love the little Pete Souza in the mirror.

Beyond that, there is the austerity ploy supposing to empathize with Main Street mired in Recession Land (White House chef does Subway!) and an almost cruel flashback to Obama’s early efforts at bipartisanship stymied by McConnell himself. Breaking bread, indeed!

The President served hoagies from Taylor Gourmet, which he purchased after a small business roundtable earlier in the day. Seated, clockwise from the President, are: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and House Speaker John Boehner.)

Bags of chips?   I’m betting JFK never served bags of chips.

Why? Are they too special to eat chips from bags? Next you’ll tell me they don’t pee or poop or sleep or snore.

Unfair to Taylor Gourmet, calling it Subway. http://www.taylorgourmet.com/ Also unfair for Subway — people might think it uses actual bread. Still, it is fascinating to see who’s grabbing for food and who appears to be reaching for his glass, helpfully hidden so we can’t see if he’s drinking iced tea, too. (Tried to link images of GWB serving hot dogs to dignitaries, but Google has a sense of humor. All jokes, no cattle parts four years on.)
