Monday's Top Pics: Romney Hug, Dimon Gets Around, Mourdock's Facebook, Israeli Left, the Innocent Rebekah Brooks

I had to smile, looking at this photo from Getty’s edit on Romney’s commencement address at Liberty U. Yes, it captures Mitt’s awkwardness. Besides that, though, combining the proximity and direct gaze of the Liberty advisor with Obama’s momentous announcement last week, there is also a vibe to the photo that Romney doesn’t know how to get his arms around the gay marriage issue either.

If there wasn’t one stand-out visual story this morning, here is a tour of our favorite images currently kicking around the newswires:

The fact Jamie Dimon and JP Morgan Chase just lost two billion dollars on a derivative play (and there wasn’t even much coverage of it) reminds me — especially in campaign season — about his recent attendance at a White House state dinner for the Chinese President. Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs was there, too.

Richard Mourdock, the Tea Party candidate who just knocked Richard Lugar out of the Senate offers up a weird image as part of his Facebook page’s wall photos. It’s a screen shot from the National Review online. Besides showing a Mourdock fundraising ad lower left, the lead NRO story, critical of Herman Cain’s economic plan and a little creepy and almost martial for a far-right organ, spells out the German words: “Nein! Nein! Nein!”

The Israeli left doesn’t get that much coverage in U.S. media, so this was a rarity. Protesting against rising prices and other policies, here are demonstrators (is this kosher?) likening the government to “pigs.”

In contrast to the deeply incestuous relationship Rebekah Brooks and The Sun maintained with Prime Ministers and other members of the English government, I couldn’t help noticing how the dress Mrs. Brooks wore in testifying to the high court, with the Peter Pan collar, bore the look of such youthful innocence.
