Casey Anthony Finally Captured…

Casey Anthony

… by a Reuters photographer, that is. I love this shot. It’s better than the photo of the defense lawyer shooting flipping the bird. Anthony was sentenced today for lying to police.

Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa men have named you,
You’re so like the lady with the mystic smile.
Is it only ‘cause you’re lonely they have blamed you
For that Mona Lisa strangeness in your smile?

Given time served she’ll be out in a couple of months. Begin the chest beating.

(Mona Lisa Lyrics by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. photo: Joe Burbank/Reuters/Pool.caption: Casey Anthony sits in court during her sentencing at the Orange County Courthouse in Orlando, Florida, July 7, 2011. A Florida judge on Thursday sentenced Anthony to four years in jail for lying to police, but said after credit for the nearly three years she already served she could be out of jail by late this month or early August. Casey, 25, was acquitted on Tuesday of killing her two-year-old daughter Caylee in 2008 but was convicted of four misdemeanor counts for lying to police during the investigation.)

“Mona Lisa Lyrics by Brian Setzer.” ??

Wasn’t “Mona Lisa” written by Ray Evans and Jay Livingston around 1950, decades before Brian Setzer was born?

    • Karen H.

Yep. We’ll have to fire the editor. Thanks.

The term is “flipping the bird” not “shooting the bird”. I thought the picture would be of the lawyer pointing a finger-gun at an imaginary bird.

Also, the link to the “shooting the bird” photo is missing the ‘h’ at the beginning, so it’s a dead link. Fire that editor twice.

You are missing the h in http link for the shooting the bird photo:

Shot flipped, “h” appended, lyrics rewritten. Thanks.

I’ll admit I have heard about this case only in the last week.  Most images I’ve seen of her show her with the tight ponytail and plain white buttoned dress shirt. Very stark. This image, though, is throwing off all kinds of associations.

The hair looks neo-Palinish. The gaze looks wary on one side, appraising on the other, and somehow challenging.  The overly-long sleeves plus the twisting hands remind me of both a tense and uncertain teenager (I’m just a little girl!) and a more wrought Lady MacBeth.  Taken together, she seems to be watching us as much as we are watching her. I don’t know if it’s just the lighting exaggerating her features, but the hint of a smile and the direct gaze give a come-hither cast to her expression.
