    Republicans need to get out more.  Mingling with the people would have given Gov. Christie a sense of how ordinary people react to the story that he took a helicopter to his son’s baseball game. 

    Getting out more would also have helped Paul Ryan understand why people are afraid of getting priced out of the market for medical services.  It’s an ordinary, reasonable fear in times like these, just as the response to Christie’s helicopter ride is an ordinary, reasonable class resentment. Nobody would have thought twice about the Governor showing up in a limo.  That’s to be expected from the Governor.  But a helicopter to the limo – that’s way over the top!

      A helicopter to the limo that drove him only 100 yards! It just piles up, doesn’t it?

      And, frankly, Christie could use the exercise.

    Glad you mentioned that as Christie’s weight, fair or not (because
    were talking about optics and public perceptions here) is often “the
    elephant in the room.”

    Could his weight, btw (the same way Palin flaunts anti-
    intellectualism) somehow work as a FU directed at the lefty/health-
    obsessed crowd?

    Not fair. Sure, it was a limo ride of only 100 yards but it was also 100 yards back to the helo when the Governor left the game (… in the 5th inning to rush to a meeting with political donors).
