    I like how on this topic of spectacularly narcissistic celebrities the white handwriting actually enhances the lurid effect in its own Perez Hiltonesque way.

    And I like the notion of the US media as being addicted to troubled and damaged personalities. But I think the metaphor is a bit flawed in that addictions tend to displace a real person. Somewhere buried underneath the addiction is a real person who can be recovered and restored to their proper human self. But corporate media is an artificial construction whose behavior is inseparable from its amoral, mechanistic construction. There is no soul buried in it, it has no underneath. It’s empty.
