Hillary’s Ecstacy

The sexualization of Hillary lives on.  …I just have two questions:

1. If that was the Secretary of State on the left and Sarko on the right, and Hillary’s eye’s and finger were directed just so, and it was Sarko with his hand on Clinton’s shoulder with that look of whoopie versus the other way around, would have come even close to being the Washington Photo Blog’s photo of the day?

2. What is happening to spelling these days?

The Wikileaks cables dealing with Sarkozy have made for some fascinating reading. Once you weed through all of the idiosyncrasies and eccentricities, you have is a leader who has secured his position in a way almost no other European leader has. His success in weakening opposition, consolidating factions of his own party in support of his dominant position within have made him not just one of the strongest players on the continent but one of the most secure. State apparently thinks they will be dealing with him for some time to come.

I see a bit of that in this picture — policies aside, Hillary certainly wouldn’t present such an ingratiating and indulgent attitude with somebody whose power in their own country was less certain. And he may be open to taking a few Guantanamo prisoners off her hands, so laughing at a few bad jokes would be a small price to pay.

At any rate it’s amusing that we once again see Sarkozy welcoming world leaders out on the front steps. The guy can’t seem to go a week without throwing a summit of some sort. The French may roll their eyes over him but he’s definitely their Johnny Hustle.

And Hillary has just announced that she won’t serve in Obama’s second term. A single term is pro forma for Sec of State, so it’s no surprise, but being on the cusp of official lame duck status does shed another interesting light on a the photo.
