CPAC Watch: Getting Dusted

Maybe Rand Paul has a legitimate point to make about energy. Or energy products. Or consumer products. Or something.  But then, maybe someone forgot to bring him to up speed on Karl’s adage: politics is TV with the sound off.

I’m not just bashing the CPAC conclave so much as I’m calling out the photo as par for the course, the Republican party just looking lost and groping right now. (And no, that’s not a Chris Lee allusion.) I mean, The Donald as a lead presenter? Are you serious? (Ask not what the country can do for you!)  And then, what’s with the breakdown of right-wing discipline, the Paulibertarians more than getting their point across about Cheney’s foreign policy resume. In the old days, if you were a liberal and you tried to publicly shout down Dick for being a war criminal, you could be secreted to your own unnamed location.

Given all that, there are worse things, I guess, than coming off looking like the huckster in a late night cable infomercial.

Why does the US Senator have things duct-taped to other things at CPAC?

If anyone disagrees that we are in a total leadership meltdown crisis mode in the US, this is the image to convince them otherwise.

It would help if we knew what on earth he was holding up there. But, if he’s saying that we waste energy using electrical appliances to do jobs better and even more quickly done by hand, I’d have to agree with him there.

That link to Bachmann….she’s the flying nun, a bird, a plane, koo-koo for coco puffs. Not as good as the Rand Paul image, but it’s great.

    Are those marital aids?

    • Rafael

      To smooth the GOP/TP marriage I suppose….

“How much would you pay for it now? But wait–there’s more!”

You know, I’ve always imagined the day I would receive this award. And now here it is. To think that an eye-man who invented his own organization in order to gain credentials could rise this high. Well, I have to thank my agent, Saul and my attorney, Bernie and my publicist, Rachel. And then Dan and Dave and Mike and Paul and Steve and oh, they’re signalling I have to wrap up but there’s just so many people to thank for this. . .

Frankly it’s one of the oddest shape award trophies I’ve ever seen.
