Support the Bag! Donate and Win! Party with us in New York!
To Friends of The Bag,
Eight months into our relaunch, we couldn’t be more proud of our many new features and the distinctive content we have brought you this year from insightful analysis of news photos, to fearless photojournalism, to distinctive video slideshow interviews, to our unique online Salon discussions.
As a holiday fundraiser for our non-for-profit mission — and to help cover our overhead and fund our independent photography — we are hosting a holiday raffle. Here’s how it works. Each $20 you donate to the site buys you 1 raffle ticket. If you donate $100, for example, that buys you 5 tickets so five chances to win. (Remember, too, that your donation is fully tax-deductible!)
We don’t ask for contributions very often so please give what you can to support the cause.
The official drawing will take place on Wednesday, December 29th at a party at the Bag’s East Coast headquarters in Brooklyn. (Also, Alan Chin’s studio, famed photojournalist crossroads and domicile.) The price of admission is also 1 raffle ticket — unless you already purchased one ticket or more. If you’re in the area, we also warmly welcome you to come meet Michael, the BagNews staff and many of our contributing photographers, view a great slideshow and celebrate the Bag and the holidays! (Directions can be found below.)
And, what are we raffling off, you ask?
Well, we have one print each from our primary contributors, Alan Chin and Nina Berman (Nina’s print will be posted shortly), as well as signed copies of photographers books from contributors and close friends Nina Berman (her book, Homeland, including Michael’s afterward), Mario Tama, Peter Van Agtmael and Jason Eskenazi as well as a signed copy of Notes contributors Robert Hariman and John Lucaites’ lauded “No Caption Needed.”
