Your Turn: Picture of a Decade

My question is, does this look like the decade to you?  Why or why not (given the pictures, items, scale, order and location)?

Some singular visuals that were introduced into our lexicon this decade (Ledger as the Joker, Abu Ghraib) were glossed over for generic images of an oil-slicked pelican and real estate. Even the iconic “Mission Accomplished” banner is cut.

Reading left-to-right, Obama comes before the economic crisis. It could easily be the other way around.

“Afghanistan” gets some of the smallest font on the page.

We apparently spent ten years engaged in serial political crisis. Really? No sports, arts, music, one movie?

And where’s TIME MAGAZINE REPLACED BY THE INTERNET? Forgot that one.

Looks like a board game :

    Snakes and Snakes.

I doubt that the articles deliver on the promise.

Everything just looks so small. Cluttered.

What stands out the most for me on Time’s cover is decades now span 11 years.

No Enron. ‘Saddam convicted’gets a big box and ‘Abu Ghraib scandal’gets a little tiny one. No ‘Citizens United’ reference.

yeah, “Saddam convicted” actually bigger than “9/11″?? that’s crazed. “dotcom bubble bursts” larger than anything financial (esp “global financial crisis”) in 2008?! strange choices indeed. feels more like “look, we remembered this one!” than real significance represented there…

anyway, when is the death knoll for Time? so tiresome…

Am I missing the fake WMDs? Or Bush’s okaying of torture? How about wiretapping the Internet? In the end, maybe the real story is the end of Journalism.

      Yeah. What he said.
