Where are all the Tea Party / Jesus Lovers out there who actually believe in the metaphysical consequences of earthly actions? They talk about how they love the Bible and Jesus and God, but they aren’t the ones questioning W’s war of choice, or torture tactics.
HYPOCRITES.
The fact that he can waltz through the rest of his post president days is INFURIATING. He’s crapped on the Constitution and the constitutional system didn’t fight back. The UN’s treaties against war and against torture didn’t drag this despot down — so they’re meaningless.
He can’t escape his Karma, though, and if it’s Jesus or Kali or Allah or whoever the f*ck is watching over the Mystery-As-A-Whole — this dude is gonna get it yet.

Amen to all of your post.
I’d light the match to burn his book. He’s a world-class traitor in my America.

And you wonder why we give Baracky such fits.
You bastards.

I see a picture of a physically mature white man slouched in a public space like he was an insecure teenager waiting for his friends to pick him up to go cruising. To a teenager the feigned comfort of this uncomfortable posture tells everyone around that the subject is special, he knows it and you should too. The adult in the picture wants the viewer to know that the viewer’s proper place in this scene is as a position of worship, kissing the feet of the great man on his throne. Just in case the viewer is too stupid to grasp this obvious assertion the great man’s words blast from the headline above — “I saved your lives!” is the verbal message. “Worship me!” is the visual message.
And you wonder why we give Baracky such fits. No, I don’t. Really.

Blank look and pallor. This is the image of a man who is completely empty.

The mark-up is a good summation. In contrasting such a bold statement with such a meager figure it does appear that The Times thinks very little of Bush’s heroic claim.

Man, they really, really could not have picked a more hapless and laughable shot. He really looks trashed. I wonder if we’ve ever had a more unpopular president among our allies than W.

I only see a suite.

err.. suit, but either really..

These first few comments could be cut and pasted directly onto a Tea Partiers-Who-Hate-Obama thread.
Tired of the demonization, vitriol, and pretentious moralizing from both sides.

To clarify… the spirit, if not the object, of the first few comments is qualitatively indistinguishable from the same bullshit Tea Partiers and birthers spew about Obama.

Obama did not start a war that got more than 100,000 civilians killed. You seem to have fallen for the media’s false moral equivalency, where there is no truth, only two sides of equal merit with every question.
Well, some say Hitler killed six million. On the other hand he got those trains running efficiently . . .

As a rule, we don’t approve of torture in Europe as it makes us look indistinguishable from the ‘other side’. We didn’t think much of Bush either (now apparently enjoying a popularity of 40% in a Gallup pole in the USA). But, we do enjoy a spot of ‘fear’ to help us feel alive and obligated to our leaders.
Then again, The Times is a Murdoch organ.
Michael
This (British) side of the Atlantic some are outraged that The Times should give Bush’s self-justification such a prominent airing, with the understanding that the Times is a Murdoch publication. BUT if you juxtapose the photograph with the subheads beside it, another story comes through. It looks as though Bush, in a casual, relaxed, and so apparently contemptuous way, is telling the British that “British public opinion just doesn’t matter”, and that anyway he has nothing to apologize about. The Times may seem a local expression of Fox News sometimes, but this time quite a different message comes through to the British reader: here is a man bent on his own ends who pays you no respect whatsoever.

Further, it could also be that what they were really wanting was a contemplative, thoughtful, and reflective image of Bush as an ex-president genuinely considering his legacy and, there being no such thing, they ran with the very best they had.

Empty suit without morals or conscience. If the truth bothers you that much Serr8d the obviously you can’t handle the truth.
