There’s life.  And then there’s the photo-op.

Tom got his hug, but that’s where Shirley — quicker to open her eyes — drew the line.

(caption: U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack embraced ex-USDA official Shirley Sherrod at a news conference in Washington Tuesday. Ms. Sherrod, who was ousted when racial comments she made were taken out of context, declined a new position with the USDA.)

This picture should long serve as a methaphor for the creepy phoniness that is DC. And America, for that matter.

Andrew Breitbart’s crows roost in the context of this image. Vilsack’s motives should be scrutinized here, give him the benefit of the doubt but still … Ms Sherrod’s case will come up for him again. The press covering this event failed Ms Sherrod even more than did Sec Vilsack. After all, his biggest mistake was to believe the press.

Haven’t seen the press offer to kiss and make up, or even acknowledge their mistake, their pattern of behavior that allows the Breitbarts the public space in which to work their propo-magic. It will happen again.

“Give him the benefit of the doubt?” I would rather give Jack the Ripper the benefit of the doubt. This guy I would like to give the benefit of swift kick in the ass. As I would with most of the Obama Admin and all of the GOP.

Like an advertising campaign, he is trying to sell a product. However, one person in this picture will cooperate only so far. You can bet the FCM (Fawning Corporate Media) went along with this all the way.
As a previous writer said, the press has not “acknowledged their mistake, their pattern of behaviour the Breitbarts (I may add the Pam Gellers) the public space in which to work their propo-magic.”
The FCM seeks access and money; it no longer plays a role in clarifying, and enlightening the American people.
