		<description>The sentencing for violent crimes is ridiculously low in Germany.

I just visited my parents back in Germany and read about a case in the local newspaper: A guy stabed a man 30 times - the victim only survived due to ER surgery.  There was no racial background mentioned in the article. The perp - not a youth - was not charged with murder but rather aggravated assault &lt;i&gt;without intend to kill&lt;/i&gt; and received a three year sentence. Laughable.  

The sentence would have been even lower if the perp was considered a juvenile criminal (i.e. younger than 21).</description>
