More Easter: Brotherhood Procession

Do photo editors have a special attraction to Easter processions in Spain because the penitents look a lot like the American KKK?

Having looked at dozens of photo galleries from the big media sites over the past few days, it’s plain — for a reason I can’t exactly put my finger on — that editors have an unusual attraction to these Holy Week processions in Spain.

“for a reason I can’t exactly put my finger on — that editors have an unusual attraction to these Holy Week processions in Spain.”
Because it’s weird as hell. I saw this last night when looking at the pictures of the previous woman. Had to do a double check as I thought at first it was the Klan. Then realized the ‘uniforms’ were just too simple/plain and neat. At least for me it has the distinct aura of Medieval Catholicism.

“Can’t put your finger on it”? Kidding right? The Klan’s been on the march for weeks now in the U.S. in the form of tea party racists. This looks like the KKK on their merry way to the White House. The fact that it’s something totally different isn’t going to bother folks who don’t read captions.
Now what the photographers/media have in mind in putting the pictures out there, that I can’t say. It’s not exactly publicly acceptable to go out in your Klan robes these days.

I “third” the previous observations. When I first saw the photo, before reading anything, I thought “KKK.” I need to think about this. Hope others will share their reflections.
