Sen. Bunning’s Three Strikes: Party of “No,” Privilege and Mean

There are several frames in the Bunning FU/”the hell with unemployment benefits” video that set back the GOP weeks, if not months.

1. Sorry — private club.

3. How dare you even ask.

    Not surprised at all.
I’m glad for everybody that McConnell was finally able to throw Bunning under the bus. The senate doesn’t deserve another 6 years of this guy.

    Let’s see if I got this right…
Obama and Democrats push through and sign Pay-Go, signed into law Feb. 12.
The very first damned incident that Pay-Go is meant to enforce, is ignored by Democrats. Democrats want to keep their ’stimulus money’ saved and ready to use during the important 2012 elections, when they can buy more votes from their base of moochers.
So, Obama signs Pay-Go. Jim Bunning enforces it. Democrats use the opportunity to squeal like stuck pigs.
    Anything new?

  • Brown

And let’s not forget that the good Senator is blocking the extension to National Flood Insurance Program.
Maybe he doesn’t know that there are rivers in KY. And “moochers” living along those rivers who are now unprotected.
Nothing new from our friends on the radical right.

Isn’t it time we kicked these old white “privileged” mysoginistic bastards out of office?

I believe he is retiring, but he ought to do it IMMEDIATELY, if not sooner. Asshole.

The very first damned incident that Pay-Go is meant to enforce
I know it’s ridiculous to even ask, but what the hell are you talking about?

  • http://motherrr.blogspot.com mcmama

This is not an incident covered by Pay-Go. Pay-Go applies to permanent increases, not supplementals or emergency measures. The extension of the unemployment benefits measure which just expired is part of the stimulus package, and is a temporary measure put in place to address our current extraordinarily high unemployment rates.
I really don’t blame you for believing all the crapola on this point – it’s everywhere in the media. But when even his Republican colleagues are backing away from him, you might want to do a little more research before you decide that the Dems are the bad guys here. Bunning’s a loon who voted against reinstating the Pay-Go rules; I’d call his current fanaticism on the subject a clear example of malicious obedience.

Jim Bunning is the reason All-Star baseball players should not have second careers. As a pitcher, Bunning was confident, composed, and completely dominating. You never knew when he’d strike out the side.
As a politician, however, not so much. I wonder if he thinks he’s still the magnificent Jim Bunning of his pitching days – that would explain his often-bizarre behavior. But no thanks. I prefer that sports heroes stay sports heroes. What’s next – revelations that Gil Hodges was an abusive drunk? – that Whitey Ford kited checks? Say it ain’t so!

The good Senator’s Pay-Go point being, the needed monies are out there in the form of already-appropriated – if not existing as, you know, real money – funding that Dems are holding back for their 2012 vote-buying. This ‘emergency allocation’ is simply another way forcing this nation even further into debt, there being now no existing money available to pay for these new allocations, except, you know, with more borrowing from the bemused Chinese and/or stealing from the grand kids.
I’m glad this three-day mini-issue asploded. It allows us to point out exactly who the people are who are driving this nation to bankruptcy with their kids-in-a-candy-store spending sprees. And who are enemies are, the gluttonous, ravenous, never-satisfied Democrats.
    I’m looking at you, kids.

Unless you were literally born yesterday, you’re suffering from a short-term memory disorder. The debt and the deficit exploded under Bush, not Clinton. And the fact that Obama inherited a disaster and hasn’t been able to undo eight straight years of Republican corruption, hypocrisy, and incompetence in 14 months does not make Democrats gluttonous. Your frankly idiotic assertion does, however, say quite a lot about you. And it’s not good.

And as was pointed out on Rachel Maddow’s show last night, Jim Bunning voted against ‘pay-go.’ Which can also be fact checked at Congress.org or GovTrack.us or Open Congress.

Just like the Republicans voted against the stimulus then posed for the cameras along with the giant checks.
Oh, and the economy was just fine, even when people were warning of massive spending (remember those two wars that now cost over 1 Trillion dollars?) and the Republicans said “deficit don’t matter”.
    Yeah, history, who needs it?
