Pope in the Bushes

Pope Hiding Abuse.jpg

Why has this photo been in so many media galleries over the past few days?

Taking editorial matters into its own hands, the visual media suggests Benedict can’t look the public in the eye and can’t hide behind Palm Sunday when it comes to the Vatican’s sexual abuse cover up.

Update 3/31/10: Jay from Denver just forwarded this. More extreme variation on same theme:

(photo 1: Franco Origlia/Getty Images. caption: Pope Benedict XVI attends Palm Sunday Mass on March 28, 2010 in Vatican City, Vatican. The Pope is now facing pressure over abuse allegations which involved the German, the American and the Irish Catholic Church.)

that is one creepy photo, pretty much captures my opinion of the pope

  • Rima

Looks like a character from the next Dan Brown movie.

  • dbrown

    Creepy. Not to mention phallic.

The posting is exactly right. Whether or not the pope is being shifty and secretive in reality, that is definitely the message of the image.

Well, I believe that the Catholic Church considers the Pope to be infallible. Looks like that’s not going to work out too well.
The Pope can try to hide behind the phallic flower, and the Church can try to hide behind the robes, but the evil in the Church will be rooted out. Has to be.
So goes the Pope, so goes the Catholic Church. Shrinking, shrunken, wasted.
