Real Men for Brown

Man for Scott Brown.jpg

Shades of the ‘08 Pennsylvania primary?

Catching this tweet this morning, and noticing this photo on the newswire, it feels like a gender (manly-man) and class (hard hat) bias is playing through the Brown – Coakley contest in Massachusetts. The photo also amplifies a sense of chest beating patriotism with the USA on the hat with the flag almost seeming to be stuck to it.

It’ll be interesting to see what impact Obama (showing up now) has for Coakley … as opposed to how successfully the right/TeaParty (1, 2) can combine the ‘08 elitist themes with the attack on Obama (D-Washington).

Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass.)

Yard signs aren’t made for sign waves, someone could lose an eye.
I stared at the picture for a long time before I realized there was an actual child obscured by the adolescent bravado.
It’s appropriate the stop light just turned yellow. Caution is called for.

I was at Northeastern in Boston yesterday trying to get in to hear Obama (no luck), and the Browners were out in force. Yup: mostly men. Guess what they were Chanting—USA! USA!

I wonder if Bag, or the commentators, on this list think the closeness of this election (if it turns out to be close) is simply, and exclusively, about ‘teabaggers’ “manly men” chanting “usa…usa”? Because if any of think that I think you are sadly mistaken. This is partially about that, sure. But this is also about general anger at the elites in this country. And it is also about the profound disillusionment of the base of the progressive movement.
Oh god, I can hear it coming back at me now……’looking for utopia’, the ‘enemy of the good…’, and so forth.

I think anything can be happened, So, we have to wait some to see what is waiting for us actually. Thanks for nice information.

There’s something weird going on when a political candidate starts boasting about his manliness.
Is Brown trying to become the Marlboro or Miller Light of politics? Same frou-frou stuff, but packaged and advertised as manly (perhaps in the Village People dress-up sense), becomes huge success?
Do real men pose for a “ladies magazines”?

Hard hat, leather work gloves, jeans, baseball shirt/muscle shirt over crew neck long sleeve shirt… Willing to bet he’s wearing work boots, too. Could have come straight out of a Wearguard catalog. May I also note White and clean shaven? Somewhere there is a wardrobe mistress and a props trailer.
