Scoring the Surge: McChrystal 30,000, Obama ‘12

Well, what a relief to finally see Stanley smile.

Despite current smiles, McChrystal=Westmoreland. Ignominious. Without the draft, Obama may not equal Johnson. How about Obama=futility?
    Sad.

looks like mccrystal is thinking “my god, what have i done with my life?”
it’s just the yellow tubing, nice backlight and jovial forground grunt that lifts the mood.
or maybe i’m just biased against murder.

No, it’s not all about General McChrystal – he’s not the president; Barack Obama is. I’m appalled that anyone would try to palm off responsibility for the escalation on anyone but the commander in chief.
It’s disappointing that there isn’t more outrage at the mere possibility that Obama would take Bush’s policy mistakes and make them bigger. I remember a bitter cold day in February 2003 when protesters clogged the streets to oppose the decision to go into Iraq. Where did those people go? I get this feeling that the Left has gotten so inured to punishment that there’s no longer any vitality.
Sending more troops into Afghanistan is wrong, and it’s not even a difficult call. I’m beginning to be sorry I voted for Obama. What a disappointment his administration has become!

“I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank. ” – - Barack Obama, October 27, 2007′

Don’t distort what he said to make your point. He was talking about Iraq. Candidate Obama stated his intention to double down in Afghanistan.
Unfortunately, I believe we are now at the quadruple down stage.
Too bad there is no talk of raising taxes to fund this war. Different president, same old shit.

These posts all seem premature. I’ve been listening to professional and armchair pundits talk a lot about what the president ought to be doing. The man inherited a disaster, and he has been judged harshly since day 1. I think he can handle it, but it would be nice to see his constituents cut him just a bit of slack. I don’t like increasing troop levels in Afghanistan, but the action is consistent with the president’s rhetoric in the campaign. I am going to listen as he explains his reasons. I do believe he understands the gravity of his decisions, and I support him.

The man has a very tough assignment.
…In the smaller theater of his responsibility it is completely consistent that he request the resource needed to do the tasks to which he has been assigned. So He deserves the smile for prevailing in his request for more help.
…In the wider theater of strategic planning, all of us over 50 smell the fumes of Viet Nam strongly wafting on this afternoons air. This was perhaps the least bad option, but man…it is rife with looming disaster. We already outnumber the Taliban in-country 12-1.
    …Was this the best move?

    Beginning to be sorry?

Obama has broken a number of campaign promises now. So instead of asking us to cut him some slack, why doesn’t he do some of the things he said he was going to do?
He has not pulled out of Iraq. He has not closed down Guantanamo. He’s continued the invasive policies of the Bush administration, and has in many ways behaved like a Republican.
When I pulled the lever for Obama, I had a sinking feeling he might turn into a dark-skinned Hubert Humphrey. I’m watching the transformation inside of a single year. It’s amazing how little guts he’s shown.

He campaigned on getting out of Iraq, but focusing on Afghanistan. Whether you agree or not, this is not a contradiction to what he said in the campaign.

If I am correct, Nazi smiled too.
Genocide is looming for Afghanistan, well it had already began, and in that region, woe to the people. Beware of the Empire’s blood thirst!
