Nixon’s? Or, Palin’s? SEK at Lawyers, Guns and Money took a look at the demographics at Fort Bragg, as compared to those photographed in the Palinpalooza (h/t EvilPoet) book tour there. The uniformity within each flock can’t be overlooked.

This reminds me that there was a time when farmers actually raised turkeys, normal looking turkeys, not the genetically modified white blobs produced in factories today, whose bodies are so engorged their bones will break under their own weight if they are not butchered on time. Needless to say, these freaks cannot mate and are only produced by artificial insemination.
If you would like to support local farmers and breeds of turkey that can actually walk, check out the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy webiste and try to buy a heritage turkey in your area. Maybe in time for Christmas?

ben franklin was right. this should have been our national bird. only a bunch of turkeys would insist on screwing ourselves for the sake of the wealthy.
