Election Day: Drawing Conclusions

obama corzine banner.jpg

Are today’s elections really a referendum on Obama, according to the knee-jerk meme of a doomsaying media (and an inflection of the photo), or is the day mostly a referendum on incumbents, a sense of worry and powerlessness (check photo again) and “throw the bums out?”

(12:50 PST slightly revised)

  • Conservative

Obama is the best thing to ever happen to the U.S. It has awakened a sleeping giant. Conservatives have never mobilized like they are now. Obama has taken us so far left that the pendulum will swing equally far right. NOT Republican necessarily, but conservatives. The majority of American’s are generally conservative and want smaller government. This is the beginning of the swing.

Last night Hannity (Fox News) was talking about an upset up here in the North Country for Hoffman (conservative) if he wins. This is utter BS! Our district up here in the remote Mountains of NY state hasn’t voted for a democrat since the Civil War (no joke). So why would it be an upset or send a message? If anything, the fact that the race is even close should be a morale boost for the Dems.

It’s a referendum on sanity. If mild health care reforms and restructuring tax burdens qualify as some kind of encroaching tyranny, then by all means Republicans can re-brand themselves from an epic screw-up party to a batshit crazy party.
Somehow, “Wherever NY-23 and New Jersey goes, so does the rest of America” doesn’t sound terribly prophetic.

Appearance is everything in politics and the appearance of the Democratic losses in NJ & VA is not good for Obama or Dems.
On a trivial note: That Obama/Corzine sign looks like a wrapper for European peppermints. I’m not sure why, but it doesn’t look “American.” Really bad design for a US campaign.

I don’t know why everyone wants to make such a big deal about New Jersey – the NJ governorship has vacillated between parties for the last 30 years.

    ’so far to the left’….???
Dude, your pendulum has a VERY short string. You really need to turn off your TV and get outside a bit more.
