The Barack “School Yard” Panic: How Much A Racist Thing?

Chris Stigall, a Kansas City talk show host, said, “I’m not letting my next-door neighbor talk to my kid alone; I’m sure as hell not letting Barack Obama talk to him alone. Some Parents Oppose Obama Speech to Students (NYT)

I’m not saying the latest right-wing hysteria tactic — demonizing Obama’s outreach to school children — directly parallels the McCain campaign ad below.

I do think it’s interesting revisiting the post below, however, which I originally ran six days short of a year ago. Beyond all the “state indoctrination” and even Hitler Youth analogies being propagated by Obama’s school chat, I’m wondering how much there is (or is also) a racist meme at play. It’s something along the lines of: You can’t trust your children alone with this man … knowing how black men are. Wink, wink.

This is obvious racism. Can you imagine this being in the news if it was Bush talking to students? Not a chance in hell.
If I was in elementary school and the President of the United States wanted to talk to me and my classmates, I’d be mad as hell if some right-wing racist wackos would keep me from this opportunity. What a bunch of morons.

In reference to Obamas radio address to children urging them to work hard and stay in school Some radio talk show host said “I’m not letting my next-door neighbor talk to my kid alone; I’m sure as hell not letting Barack Obama talk to him alone.”
What he should have said was “I’m sure as hell not letting my kid listen to Barack Obama’s speech on studying hard and staying in school”
Like “Willie Horton” , those bigots are secretly injecting images of black men talking alone to white children.
They know how the game is played. All you have to do is conjure up images in the mind of the listener… “Barack Obama” (a black man)…leaning over a neighbor’s fence… gesturing to a defenseless child..who is all alone. “Come here little boy. I have some candy for you”
Images of black men accosting white women and children , kidnapping them, molesting them. Nothing raises the fierce anger of white bigots more than that. Images like that arouse lynch mobs and cross burnings.
“I’m not letting my next-door neighbor talk to my kid alone; I’m sure as hell not letting Barack Obama talk to him alone.”
The far right has leaned so far right they have fallen off the deep end.

The right wing has been beaten back before, and their chances for success against Obama aren’t promising. For example, there may be a few right wingers around who still oppose feminism, but they’re careful to speak in generalities unrelated to specific issues like access to childcare or equal pay. Instead they talk vaguely of a “more innocent” time when people conformed more closely to gender stereotypes.
Wait till it comes out that Philip Garrido is a Bible-spouting zealot. This lunatic actually describes his own story as “heartwarming” and “powerful.” And we have no idea how many others just like him who have become convinced that what they call secular humanism is the work of the Devil. They mean that quite literally. They kill abortion doctors and they snatch children off the street.

Oh okay – maybe he’s not a communist or a fascist, then he must be a child molester!
I so admire Obama for maintaining his dignity in the face of all this absurdity.

I’m sorry – ISN’T Phillip Garrido a Bible-spouting zealot? I was watching, I don’t know, some idiot rambling on and on and on, and all I could think is they have SO co-opted the Gospel and the teachings of Jesus Christ. They really have no idea how skewed its become.
Yesterday I watched a guy really say this – after the woman in a wheelchair was shouted down – (paraphrasing): She doesn’t deserve special rights. Special rights? She wasn’t asking for special rights. She was asking to be heard. I think it’s what my mother called “good manners.”

It is time for Mr Obama to take on these cancers on society. Time to tell them: “Have you no shame?”
People have lost their trust in government because of the lies they were told by the G W Bush administration. This is the biggest crime that that administration committed. Bigger even than the thousands of lives lost in a war of desire not of necessity. Having lied and not being called out on it, gave the Bushies the idea that they could go on lying – and were they ever astute students!. They were safe among an ignorant and ill-informed population.
Destroying the trust of your citizens makes them fearful and to be fodder for demagogues and for believing misleading, half-baked ideas – if not totally invented and designed to misinform, by the likes of Beck, Hannity, Malken, O’Reilly, Coulter, etc., etc., of this world. And let’s not forget the hatred spewing from elected Representatives and Senators. When are people going to be prosecuted for libel? For besmirching others’ names and reputations?
Too many people have abdicated their personal responsibility for being informed – not preached to. Radio and TV talk show hosts are not God. Take their pronouncements with lots of salt. Read, research and be personally informed.
But keep up the racism. That is what is driving such hateful and hurtful and uncaring people in the US these days. It really is a winning strategy that paralyzes America while the rest of the world is racing into a prosperous future.

Mike Malloy has been the only media person to call this uber amplified Obama mass hysteria for what it is- public notice to stir up the maniacs until one finally assassinates our first black President…

I don’t think any of these ‘protests’ over BHO’s newest technique of kiddy school-level Community Organizing (being just an extension of his Forever and Continuous Campaigning, an offshoot of his All-the Time Proselytizing Instead of acting all Presidential), is racist. Because Bush did the same thing, right? Right?
