Netanyahu the Look Out

Netanyahu binoculars.jpg

The product of one of the more disingenuous photo ops circling now, we see Netanyahu taking to the desert with a pair of binoculars, the picture of an “outward looking” leader surrounded by empty expanse.

The function of the photo, however, is a bait-and-switch, given how Bibi, behind the smoke screen of token military resistance, has been tacitly encouraging settlers to erect or expand as many illegal West Bank settlements as possible before negotiations with Obama shut off the tap. (Of course, if that even happens is another story.)

Perhaps the black-clad security dude standing between Bibi and the white shirts, and this romantic landscape (and also seeming to keep his eye on us) is a red flag that the photo is less than innocent. Otherwise, however, what the image really documents — the party surveying the Israeli-controlled Allenby Bridge crossing to Jordan, the West Bank behind their backs — is Netanyahu “looking the other way.”

Good propaganda for settlments…there is so much space to conquer, never mind the Palestinians. It seems to me Obama’s diplomacy is not working… or maybe that is the intention.

i saw a report about how israel denies israeli arabs from developing their own communities. this isn’t the west bank or gaza, these are arabs living within israel, citizens within that country. their homes get targeted to be zoned to be demolished. one man featured has had his house razed twice. he keeps rebuilding even though his house has been deemed illegal. israel refuses permits to install necessities such as power lines and sewer lines into these communities. their houses lack water, electricity and running toilets. israeli arabs aren’t even allowed permission to build schools for their children. they do it anyways knowing they risk it being torn down. it’s ironic that israel demands the right to settlement growth development while they deny their own citizens that same right. netanyahu should take those binoculars and look inward.
