First Leg Of The Cairo Trip: King + Bling

Saudi bling.jpg

After the supposed bowing incident, and given the Egyptian – Saudi power politics calling for the late addition of Saudi Arabia to the trip, it looked like Obama — with all deference and expression of gratitude — couldn’t get that Abdul Aziz medal off fast enough.

Reminded me a little of this.

Reminds me of another guest of the King – in which Bush reveled in the bling, a fancy seat with a pelt, and every other accoutrement of royalty. Of course, he looked like a twit, but there it is.

i guess i can appreciate the King giving this awfully gaudy necklace to Obama.. I guess. It’s just made for ridicule, though. How can he reject it? He certainly can’t wear it – not with today’s media climate. This will make an awesome prop that Obama can keep in his drawer and bring out during really serious meetings.

so what if he bowed? that’s better than getting hit with $5 dollar gas. ridiculous for the administration to allow themselves to get pressured into deny it.
