Rove, TwitPics, Hugs And Guns

200902191323.jpg

Ah, wingers.
Now that Rove has discovered Twitter and (perhaps the aptly named) Twitpics, he can self-promote in a whole new way. Besides this photo posted on the 11th (now I'm starting to appreciate why people chafe when I refer to pictures as "shots"), here is a sequence of related tweets:

I'll send an autographed photo to the first person who can identify the gentleman on the far left.

You're correct—unfortunately Cheney's not here. But, I look forward to my next hunt with him.

It's Chris Wallace from Fox News Sunday.

Back in Washington. Working on the book this weekend. Tune in to Fox News tomorrow AM. I'll be on Chris Wallace's 100 Day Special.

Chris Wallace had a very strong first performance at Armstrong Ranch.
What with the Cheney – Bush feud (accompanied by one more look at the paranoid Veep roaming the bushes, and putting himself above and beyond the Bushes) and then this shot (err, photograph) of conservatives-in-exile roaming South Texas and sporting bright colors, big boots and guns, it seems worthwhile to remind ourselves — even if they are mostly out-of-sight — we probably shouldn't completely turn our backs.
… Notice, by the way, how the boys are all "hugging" the outside, especially over on Karl's side. (And that's not to mention all the Rove – Wallace hugging on TV.)

I love the pink creels or bird bags or whatever you call them for the ladies. Accessorize, darlings, accessorize!

Trying to analyze why this photo makes me so ill. The 2 endomorphs dressed up in bright, newly purchased hunting gear, trying to look like men. They are birds of prey. The dog panting in the cage on the right. The alliance between the faux journalist and the faux pundit, based on years of pretension and lies, while the country sinks into quicksand. I deeply despise these people. They are – gross.

    Yee haw.

well we don’t have worry about confusing wallace with a journalist anymore. he’s an A hole buddy of rove is what we’d call him and needs to disclose it.

Texans must be feeling somewhat like hunted animals themselves these days. Every time Karl Rove pops his head up out of his hole, some prosecutor takes a shot at him. Obama’s approval ratings are the reverse of what Bush was able to achieve in the past year or so – did Bush manage to crest above 30?
Texas also gave us Lyndon Johnson, who fell into a deep depression after his presidency. The Eastern elite had called him a bumpkin in boots, and he’d let his own people down. Unlike Bush, Johnson had some real accomplishments. We can’t forget that the President of the United States, a Southerner himself, addressed the nation from the Oval Office and said We shall overcome. Johnson also had some good people in his cabinet, and Bill Moyers was his press secretary. The Bush cabinet was full of lizards like Rumsfeld, Gonzalez and Cheney.
The guns held high might represent the Texans’ ongoing defiance. Don’t mess with Texas! However, the dawg in the cage might be how they really see themselves.

Well. at least they are all holding their shotguns correctly (i.e., not pointed at anyone).

Rove is the living personification of Elmer Fudd

Is one of those ladies Mrs. Rove?

The Armstrong Ranch is where Cheney shot that Texas guy in the face. I believe it is a “stocked and staffed” hunting area, something like where paid staff flushes out the “game” that has been put there for the convenience of the “hunters.”
I also found an interesting bit from 2006 about a gift to Rove of a fancy shotgun from the Armstrong Ranch owner and some others. This makes Rove something like…..who was it that had a fancy shotgun…..Oh yeah, John Kerry!

Rove discloses $2,073 shotgun as a gift
    By The Associated Press
WASHINGTON — The owner of the South Texas ranch where Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot a hunting companion chipped in for the gift of a shotgun for presidential aide Karl Rove last year.
Specifically, a Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon II, a 20-gauge shotgun worth $2,073 that Katharine Armstrong and 10 other friends gave the senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President Bush, according to financial-disclosure forms released Friday for top White House aides.]

I’ll never understand how these effete, criminal ideologues ever captured the hearts and minds of the rural working class.

Fortunately for our Pantonic sensiblities, bright orange and hot pink safety gear is only seen on jackbooted, shotgun-toting, politically conservative hunters in Red states…

…but by avoiding such garishness, progressive Blue state hunters are more visually considerate (even if they’re a lot jumpier while in the Great Outdoors).
And in Washington DC, the First Fashionista at least knows how to make bright orange and purple look good (imagine stuffy Laura Bush — or even Lady Extraordinary — wearing 12″ of white fringe).
