    The lifeless bare branches and stark black on whiteness take me immediately to Strange Fruit, may the sickness of those times (our times) someday be healed.

    Southern trees bear strange fruit,
    Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
    Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,

    Barabbas was the revolutionary released by Pilate who wanted instead to free Jesus of Nazareth.
