Yes. Well done. Nice to see the Secret Service with their overcoats open, too, so they can grab their piece. Nice to know they didn’t need to.

Michael — You’ve provided the visual evidence for what we have known instinctively about this couple. Thank you!
Michelle Obama is one classy lady. From today’s New York Times: Mrs. Bush is planning to write her memoirs, and Mrs. Obama gave her a pen engraved with Tuesday’s date and a leather-bound journal inscribed with a quotation that read: “There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. Yet that will be the beginning.”

    Barack under new glass.
Even while taking another constitutional down Main Street, America still looks afraid.

Very much enjoy these pictures. Their synchronicity did stick out to me even while I was watching it broadcast live. There was hardly a moment when they were not holding hands. And the way that they reached for each other was so instinctive and natural, so very comfortable. It is nice (yay present tense and not future!) to have the WH filled with such deep love. The country needs it.

They could have been ice dancing! It was COLD COLD COLD that day. brrrrrr……
I do love how they orient themselves toward one another when in each other’s company. They really have made a lasting commitment to one another and in my opinion, that bodes well for us.

Not at all. Progress clearly arrived in Washington from Day One: Security for Obama’s Inauguration to be Tightest Ever.
Accompanied by good intentions, carefully considered convictions, superior speechifyin’, and a new face in the driver’s seat, we’re the ones being driven into GWOT’s third term:

The WHITE HOUSE • THE AGENDA • FOREIGN POLICY
President Obama and Vice President Biden will renew America’s security and standing in the world through a new era of American leadership. The Obama-Biden foreign policy will end the war in Iraq responsibly, finish the fight against the Taliban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan, secure nuclear weapons and loose nuclear materials from terrorists, and renew American diplomacy to support strong alliances and to seek a lasting peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
…The gravest danger to the American people is the threat of a terrorist attack with a nuclear weapon and the spread of nuclear weapons to dangerous regimes.
…the greatest threat to our security — the resurgence of al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

However, it sure looks like the same old road map. We may be taking more left turns than right ones, but the same enemies, destinations (that we can’t get to from here), and ETA lie ahead. Let’s hope we don’t pick up the deepest regrets along the way, but their thumbs are always out.
Perhaps the rest of the world doesn’t want America grabbing the wheel again. There’s many detours on the way to everLasting Peace (considering we’ve been going to war in Asia for decades), but at least with Obama at the wheel we’ll feel better while stuck in traffic.
