Paulson: Just Write It Down!

Paulson Steno.jpg

Yes sir, yes sir (three bags full).

What you see above is classic, classic photojournalistic commentary on Paulson’s press conference this morning in which the wannabe monarch once again flip-flopped on the abusive bailout strategy.

What else can you say but that Paulson is rapidly morphing into another Rummy? On view here is a wonderful visual metaphor of the Treasury Secretary as dictator. Beyond dictating to the press corps (which is invisible to us, and apparently, to him too), we have the “supreme ruler metaphor” set up by the presence/centering of the stenographer.

Good analogy….. Rummy, or Alexander Haig. A blathering incompetent, claiming total authority. I’ve been searching the New York Times every five minutes waiting for Paul Krugman to explain this latest TARP about-face.
All I know is that my two 401k investments for my lifetime employment, Citicorp and Time Warner have gone from $500,000 to $50,000 in four months.

Classic photojournalism indeed. Althought at first I thought it was a shot of Fox News and Joe the Plumber.

Who is surprised that Paulson, given the authority to dole out funds at will without any meaningful oversight, has taken it upon himself to dole out funds at will?

Don’t worry, by the end of December the money will be spent without protest and without accounting. Everything is legal, thanks to House and Senate, the people have given him Yea.

We know where the mortgage-backed securities are…they’re east, north, south, west of Wall Street…

Pay no attention to the man in front of the curtain….
