Diva-ization Of The GOP

Crist.jpgCrist Palin.jpg

I’ve been sorting through the more representative images from the GOP Governors Beauty Pageant Conference in Miami.

Here, Florida Governor Crist, the man with the perpetual tan, articulates the pervasive impact of Sarah Palin’s modeling on the Republican establishment. Only enhanced by the electric blue background, Crist offers this signature gesture to a spectator during Palin’s address to a Plenary Session.

I have no idea how to read Charlie’s adulation in the second shot, but SP’s “I’m the bomb” expression is well familiar by now.

Ana Marie Cox had some great tweets this morning by the way. They include:

I need me some Pawlenty to wash the Palin out of mouth. I think I speak for America in saying that.

God, she was AWFUL. Fell back on stump speech, I think, in order to get reliable applause. Someone give Matt Scully a retroactive raise.

In main hall Palin gives her stump speech! WTF? Trig, energy, McCain TEH AWESOME, JOE THE FUCKING PLUMBER. Wonder if she’ll work in Ayers…

Palin only took 3 questions, snapped at Dana Bash: “This isn’t my first formal press conference. I’ve been doin’ ‘em in Alaska for years.”

This is why, throughout all the bad times in the last eight years, I’ve always been able to keep a good attitude about the future. In the end, the Republican Party is doomed to failure, as is any organization that rewards loyalty over competence. They can deny that they’re doing this as much as they want, but it is plain to see – the intellectual bankruptcy of the GOP is finally manifesting itself at the top levels of the party. In the end, they will not be able to survive until they stand back and assess honestly what they have become. This includes acknowledging their Southern Strategy, the dogwhistle politics, the corruption, the hypocracy, all of it. It all needs to be addressed and dealt with before the GOP will be able to move forward. I don’t think that will happen any time soon – it simply isn’t in their nature to admit fault. If it was, they’d have been kicked out of the party by now. And therein lies the rub.

I’m noticing that Sarah Palin looks quite different in her post-campaign photos. She is not an unattractive woman, but not nearly as attractive in a photo as when she was attended by a professional make up artist. The lady really needs to hit the books; but she won’t she is self-confident and deluded and with, as someone said, the hide of a rhinoceros. Found guilty she declares herself innocent. When she can’t answer the question: “what newspapers do you read?” She declares it a “gotcha” question and the wingnut republican pundits agree with her.
Palin/Plumber in 2012-and I say that as an Obama voter who is already unhappy with the next administration.

Palinoscopy is spewing stump speeches because that’s all she’s got. She doesn’t have anyone feeding her new talking points, so she has to go with what she has. She can’t think on her feet, she has no knowledge of the world, the Constitution, national politics…nothing…nada…an empty vessel that the RNC filled for a few months and now has run dry.
Dumb as a stump. Once her looks go, she’s gonna turn into Phyllis Schafly.

Charlie Crist looks like a nightclub singer. In the first shot he seems to be wearing a tux, as if he were attending an awards ceremony. The look suggests good living – relaxed, suntanned and prosperous — the very definition of success. It doesn’t work so well in bad times. Politicians should avoid looking too prosperous when people are struggling to get by.
I think that’s the Republicans’ problem – they try so hard to look like they’ve got it made. Obama’s probably a millionaire himself, but he doesn’t have that Las Vegas look. (It’s not that he’s Black – Sammy Davis had that look.) Sarah Palin loves being a celebrity. It’s harder to adopt that tanned look when you come from Alaska, but she’s on her way to being famous for being famous.

Palin is quickly making a “verbal record” for future fact-checkers with these whirlwind interviews she is particpating in. And unfotunately for her, her ambition is bigger than her talent. She is like someone pursuing a singing career who cannot sing. Let Palin burn her self out as she is quickly wearing out the welcome mat!

thanks for adding the twitter. Cox is more fun away from TV than on it….

To DennisQ: I heard that Palin had a tanning bed installed in the governor’s mansion.

So that’s what Charlie Crist looks like? He looks like the evil Mr. Largo from that old James Bond movie.

Do Republicans have some sort of winking fetish going on?

More telling of the other Republican Governors take on Palin is that she wasn’t given any post in the RGA…this means they DIDN’T see her as a leader or spokesperson for the Governor’s organization.

Emilio Largo (Thunderball) would have Charlie Crist for lunch, no for an appetizer.
Palin and Paris – new BFF’s?
