Counter-Terrorism In Mumbai

This image, which could be seen as a non-verbal comment on the effectiveness of Indian security forces in the four day siege in Mumbai, seems to lean editorially even more that way as Spiegel's lead off selection for a 21 picture crisis photo gallery.

    Among the 21 photos, the woman tourist in red, sitting in a vehicle with red curtains was especially eye-catching. From what I’ve picked up from reading and watching as the drama unfolded is that tourism is terribly important in Mumbai, and friends, some natives of the city such as Fareed Zakaria and Prof. Suketu Mehta are on record that they intend to make their planned, upcoming trips to the city. Rounding the circle, Zakaria signed off his program yesterday by suggesting viewers read Mehta’s book on Mumbai, “Maximum City.”
