7/01 is when the middle and lower incomes got slammed.

Now, it’s all going to hell in a handbag.

And now the reprises of Barack’s former pastor being forced upon us at the cable news stations! How clever to have bought Rev Wright’s sermons on DVD. Showing just selected minutes from hours available. Ouch!

ref : “ the Right Reverend Wright’s sermons’ rights
TheClintons, et al, using “guilt by association” words and pictures propaganda (whatever their sources may be, this is The Conversation), such that ‘Mr. Obama < => Rev. Wright’ has been remarkably successful in parsing Mr. Obama, the man, from Obama!, the movement.
When TheClintons “went negative” it was a startling admission that their campaign was ‘out of ammunition’ : ie., their only effective issue now is “Mr. Obama”, himself. At first they found themselves making mocking speeches about the man’s speeches, and his ability to motivate others, and that looked pretty petty, i daresay, pathetic. Regardless how deeply they dug into the man, they found only trivial dirt to dish. But then they discovered that even if Mr. Obama was clean as a whistle, black people, et al with whom he was “associated”, if not his preacher then, his people (the conceit implicit is the possessive tense sense ~ that He ‘owns Their rhetoric’, thus) Then what the hell: anything angry/bitter outrageous spoken by any black man or woman in anger, would work just as well, because they are all his = Him, thus; ‘associates’ of Mr. Obama, The Black Man.
Mr. Obama now finds himself defending himself against all this shit that he never said ~ and this choo-choo train of poop is never-ending ~ because there’s all kinds of crap that other people said, and all you need is a picture of Mr. Obama with, or just put side-by-side on a page, to invoke the logical fallacy that ‘Mr. Obama < => Rev. Wright’, despite common sense (he’s half-white; some black bigot railing against white people be dissin’ his own Mama, for chrissake). He’s all tied up in knots, now ~ once we start going down this road: Mr. Obama < => any image of ‘a frightening Black Person’.
So long as Mr. Obama tries to stick it out in TheClintons‘ fight-dirty knife-fight, he’ll just keep getting stuck ~ over and over, and perhaps even die a death of a thousand cuts ~ if not in this Primary against them, then during the General election, against the Generalissimo. He’s got to effectively defeat this ‘association’ dynamic; He’s got to change this black man, being ‘The Conversation’.
MadameGonzo, fwiw speculates that : “Mr. Obama could do so by abruptly leaving Pennsylvania (it’s weeks away) and go to FLORIDA (!) for two days and a night, “it’d freak TheClintons out! hell, it’d freak everybody out!” …and while there, play “Rope-A-Dope”, just let all the crap that TheClintons, et al are hurling at him disappear into a black hole of ZEN nothingness. While there, re-tool The Conversation as something like, “I’m running against the ‘WAR ECONOMY’ = the battle between YOU, the home-makers, and THEM, the war-makers… yadda yadda”. Then go to EUROPE (!), she says. London first, get greeted by thousands of people (he’s insanely popular overseas), then Rome (they get blessed by The Pope!), then ride triumphantly Champs-Élysées, through a throng of thousands, maybe half-a-million!
( i won’t bore you with Madame’s rant, as i got my own rant :)
My two cents, fwiw ~ is that Mr. Obama should stop defending himself, and defend The Associates (!) Rise above ‘Mr. Obama < => Rev. Wright’, and defend free speech : “I disapprove of what he says, but I will defend to the death his right to say it.” a phrase often attributed to Voltaire, but in fact made by Evelyn Beatrice Hall.
“And, as President: I will defend to the death the right of all Preachers to preach, or, indeed, the rights of all Americans, to speak freely : That is what this campaign, is all about.”

ref : “ Out of Many, We are One
I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents; and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.
It’s a story that hasn’t made me the most conventional candidate. But it is a story that has seared into my genetic makeup the idea that this nation is more than the sum of its parts – that out of many, we are truly one.
Wiki => E Pluribus Unum ’ : “is Latin for “Out of Many, One.” Never codified by law, it was considered a de facto motto of the United States until 1956 when the United States Congress passed an act (H.J. Resolution 396), adopting ‘In God We Trust’ as the official motto.”
And with this rhetoric, Mr. Obama ~ no longer ‘The Black Man’, but ‘The Pluralized American’ ~ did strive to re-merge himself into the Obama! movement, from which he was parsed.
It was a stunning speech, in so many ways… not least of which was that the candidate dared to address Americans as if they were adults.
He did not do the “Rope-A-Dope” thing, become this ZEN black hole of nothingness ~ into which all our angst = fears and anger could be expended into the seeming serenity of him. He did not do the “Kung Fu Fighter” thing, reflecting back (to us) the forward thrust force of all our Bad Karma, hurled at him, into a clever twist parry to remind US: “to remain Americans, by defending to our deaths ‘the rights of all Preachers’ to preach things about which we each have the right to disagree.” He did not offer us, our absolution; he did not invoke, our guilt.
After such a speech, The Conversation was, for that brief moment, itself stunned speechless. The entertainers acting as ersatz ‘news anchors’ apparent struggled to return to all their infantile Talking Points, that now seemed such an inappropriate script for sudden adults: “Will. . . will Obama’s speech help him win in Pennsylvania?”
“Who remembers Pennsylvania?” you could almost hear the wiser men and women wonder:
Will Mr. Obama’s e pluribus speech help us now to re-member all of us into Our Union ?
