I wouldn't say that I was looking for "blank" faces; rather, I'm interested in a purely demographic description of who shows up. How old people are, what they're wearing, male, female, and so on. I'm not thinking that this is a new idea, just a perennially interesting one in a democratic electoral process. We are tired of everyone from the media looking for "crowd shots," and we're rather cynical about what any of the candidates are saying by this point, because they're all sweating bullets by the end of the NH primary and the niceties are being dropped: we're seeing behind the curtain. These folks are clearly tired and want everyone to go the hell home. I know I'm at that point. My wife is beautiful and photogenic but I can take a picture with a really blank looking expression on her face in just a couple tries if she doesn't know I'm doing it. I certainly applaud the effort to turn the camera around, though. I was struck more by how few people there were around than the expressions themselves.
