Landing

So, 11 months, 15 days, 5,000 miles and 9 time zones later, The BAG has finally made land in California (and it sure feels odd).

Because I seem to have lost a night of sleep somewhere over the past three days, and because I need to get used to blogging again on the PM schedule — and, oh yeah, I’m moving tomorrow — I might be a little inconsistent over the next few days.

With you indulgence, however, I think I’ll continue my YearlyKos debriefing.  I want to take a look at Obama, and to also compare the Clinton and Edwards “break out” sessions.

By the way, if you’ve emailed me, sit tight.  I’m still working off that back up machine and I haven’t gotten my mail to work yet.

Finally, you should know that the last month was really an important one for the site.  The three-and-a-half weeks in New York raised many new opportunities — especially to showcase more original photojournalism.  Along the way, I’m excited to say I’ve also been offered a regular column on American Photo’s web edition.  Finally, I’m still absorbing the impact of YearlyKos.  Besides making new friends and contacts (as well as confirming many others “in 3-D”), it provided much support, solidarity and insight into this increasingly respectable world we are all a part of.

As always, I am indebted to you, the BAG community, for all your support.

Good for you, you deserve much success!! BagnewsNotes is one of the most valuable, fun and challenging blogs on the net. Your insight helps me to stop and think instead of passively absorbing images without taking the time to decide how the photo is being used. Thank you!

congrats on all the great things happening . . . i heart the bag!
do you have anything on the Richardson Campaign? he’s polling a strong fourth in the Iowa caucus and i’d love to know what you noticed about his presence at YearlyKos . . .

Thanks for the kind words. And Nyoki, I might have something for you on Richardson. (He was a big hit, by the way, with his Iraq “one point” plan.)

on richardson… I was a part of the volunteer team that met the candidates and ushered them to various green rooms and break away sessions. I was not assigned to richardson but I got to see a lot of the candidates and campaigns plans in action and their choices were telling. Richardson knows he is well qualified. Prob. more than anyone else running and his biggest hurdle is recognition. So he- alone made the choice to meet and greet out in the lunch area before the forum. He also took the public escalators and stairways and tried hard to stay the most visible and present.
He also opted to stay for the very excellent bbq bringing together the netroots and the unions.
His breakaway (I caught the last 10 mins) had a ton to say about the real faces in the Iraq war. he is a serious champion for vets issues. and he seems to be the only one to realize what we are going to be dealing with in the next 10 years concerning the fall out and aftermath of the disaster that is the iraq war. He was my pick of the weekend. Though i thought all the candidates, even gravel, had some stellar moments.
