Terror Scorecard

Too many people mistakenly think that al Qaeda is trying to scare us or get us to back down.  They know that won’t happen, and so they try to provoke us.  They are trying to force us and the arab world into a large scale war on their own turf, and once their preexisting corrupt governments are gone, they plan to replace them with al Qaeda style governments.  As brutal as some of the nations in the middle east are today, that would be much worse.

So every time we get mad at them and talk about ramping up the fight, we are playing into their hands.  Every time we openly talk tough against them, we are helping them.  On the other hand, if we were to start sending in small teams to pick off terrorists while they sleep, or get moles within the groups to lie to the members and start infighting, we would be able to win against them.  al Qaeda is not a nation, it’s an idealism.  We can’t defeat ideas with bombs.  We have to defeat it by being smarter.

    Isn’t this exactly what we are doing? Combining small scale, quiet eliminations and paid informants with larger attacks when necessary? If we are talking a 10,000 man force, we need the bombs. And isn’t the whole point of black ops that we don’t know about them? How do we know we’re not?     And how do we know that we won’t have the entire problem solved by tommorrow morning? And how do we know that there isn’t a process that will bring everybody who has been killed back to life? And who do we know that it wasn’t the tooth fairy that left a quarter under my pillow? And how do we know that any criticism of the Administration doesn’t cause soldiers to drop dead? And how do we know that all those people from all over the world, from so many points of view, who tell us that the “War on Terrorism” is a giant cock-up aren’t lieing? Yeah, that’s it- it’s a giant conspiracy- an evil conspiracy… done by, ooh, I know, evildoers! And how do we know….
