Leading Photos: Big News Afoot

Assuming you factor out possible cultural differences (such as Iraqis and Americans having different preferences in newsstands), what kind of messages are in this picture the NY Times led with on Thursday? (The caption reads: “In Baghdad yesterday, Iraqi’s read newspaper headlines a day after the new Iraqi government was unveiled, while the United States special envoy called for talks with opposition foes.”)

Here are a few possibilities:

>>We’re interested, but we’re keeping our distance.

>>It may be a big story, but so far, it’s still just a story.

>>We tend to look down on this.

>>I’m listening to everybody because I don’t know who to believe. (There are at least five or six different papers on display.)

>> I’m worried.
